Characterisation of Nanotubes

Nanotube

I hadn’t heard of it until recently, but a relatively new class of materials known as carbon nanotubes is proving to be very useful in a variety of applications and appears to offer scope for solutions in many branches of science and engineering. To make best use of that potential, these materials need to be characterised and assessed. In one of a range of application notes downloadable from the Beckman Coulter website, the use of DelsaMax PRO in such analysis is studied. Continue reading Characterisation of Nanotubes

DelsaMax CORE in Molecular Weight Analysis

Molecular weight - BSAI’d like to direct you to another source of useful information on applications of dynamic light scattering. If you go to the web page http://www.delsamax.com/english/ you will find a button inviting you to ask for application downloads. Click on that, then fill in your details, and you will be offered a very interesting selection of application studies. Continue reading DelsaMax CORE in Molecular Weight Analysis

DelsaMax ASSIST and Analysis Software

DelsaMax ASSIST - Beckman Coulter

DelsaMax ASSIST

In some of my recent posts I have given brief details of the DelsaMax PRO and CORE dynamic light scattering instruments from Beckman Coulter. Among other things, I have been amazed by how quickly, accurately and reliably this series delivers its particle size and zeta potential analysis. I have also been impressed by the fact that it can do this with incredibly small samples and tiny particles. Today I’d like to talk about the other two items in the DelsaMax product line-up: DelsaMax ASSIST and the DelsaMax Analysis Software. Continue reading DelsaMax ASSIST and Analysis Software

DelsaMax PRO and CORE Analysers

DelsaMax CORE – Beckman Coulter

DelsaMax CORE

Depending on your specific particle characterisation needs, the main choice you will need to make within the new DelsaMax range of dynamic light scattering instruments from Beckman Coulter might well be between the PRO and CORE versions. A little summary here might help. Continue reading DelsaMax PRO and CORE Analysers

The recent announcement of a whole new range of Beckman Coulter dynamic light scattering instruments was of major significance for those of us with a deep interest in nanoparticle research. After all, the existing Beckman Coulter range already had so much to offer. What would the new DelsaMax analysers have to add? Continue reading DelsaMax Website

Beckman Coulter

I’m always interested to know something about the background of companies who make the instruments I use. In the case of Beckman Coulter, which makes dynamic light scattering equipment, there is a lot of information to research. Particle characterisation is just one of many areas in which this organisation supplies products and services. Even within that category, the photon correlation spectroscopy (for measuring sizes and size distributions) and electrophoretic light scattering (for measuring zeta potential) instruments are not the only ones on offer. Particle and Material Characterisation

Meritics logo

If you are a regular reader of the dynamic light scattering website, or of those on Coulter Counters (www.coultercounter.co.uk) and pore size (www.poresize.co.uk), you will probably be aware of Meritics (www.meritics.com). Meritics provides authoritative advice and support on these and all other aspects of particle and material characterisation technology. Continue reading Particle and Material Characterisation

Studying Fat Globules in Milk

Milk

The following article, based on application information available via the Beckman Coulter website, gives an example of how measurements of particle size and zeta potential may both be obtained using the same instrument. In this case the subject is fat globules in homogenised milk. Continue reading Studying Fat Globules in Milk

New DelsaMax Series of Analysers

New

This month I have information on a whole new series of dynamic light scattering instruments from Beckman Coulter. The DelsaMax Series looks set to take nanoparticle research to another level in terms of speed, accuracy and reliability. Continue reading New DelsaMax Series of Analysers
